7 in a month

so this time last month I was at 360 ... I am now at 353 ... which means I'm not even losing 2 lbs a week... grrrr... I understand the body slows it weight loss down eventually ... but after only a 1/4 of the loss... give me a fucking break. I still have 153 lbs to go ... at the rate i have slowed down to ... damn near 2 years.
Weight loss is weight loss and I shouldn't complain... but I am... and it is frustrating as hell.

  1. I know it's frustrating. I've experienced the frustration, too, and I've done some reading on this. Can you change your routine in any way? Often our bodies get used to our routines and then level out, in a way. Sometimes a change in routine or activity is all it takes to kick start things again. Diet and food intake is one thing, but without strength training and cardio, you limit your results. More muscle = more calories burnt, so strength training is really important. You don't want to be losing muscle mass as you drop lbs, you know? Even if you can't get to a gym, invest in some free weights and commit yourself to using them consistently. I had a book about body sculpting (available for both men and women) that was great for at-home workouts. I also read that our bodies have this internal sensor, so to speak, and after significant losses, sometimes our bodies need to maintain a weight for a bit so they can recalibrate to the new weight. Then weight can start coming off again once you've "reset" at the new weight. I lack the science lingo to explain it, but it certainly explains why people hit plateaus while losing weight. One of the podcasts I was listening to is called Cut the Fat and they often go into a lot of the issues surrounding weight, health, and fitness. They can be annoying sometimes, but the information is really helpful when you need that motivating, knowledgeable "trainer" voice each day.
